American Nevada is the corporation that initially planned Green Valley in 1978 and its extension community of Green Valley Ranch and Green Valley South. This community includes Green Valley Resort and Casino, The District Shopping Plaza, and great restaurants. The Henderson Community Center is also located in Green Valley. This community center includes a library, community pool, amphitheater, and more.

Green Valley is one of the more successful master-planned communities in Henderson. Green Valley Ranch measures just under 1,300 acres of Henderson and includes over 15,00 residents. The three parks of Green Valley Ranch are Dos Escuelas park, Paseo Verde, and Discovery Park. These parks include playgrounds, baseball fields, sandpit/volleyball courts, and playgrounds. Green Valley South

Green Valley South is the area surrounding The Grand Legacy Golf Course. This gives many of the homes have amazing golf course views from the backyards. Green Valley South is cut off from the rest of Green Valley with the Pittman Wash to the east and the north. The 215 freeway cuts off the south end of Green Valley South and the west side borders Railroad Lake and Cornerstone Park. The two parks located inside of Green Valley South are Mountain View Park and Pecos Legacy Park or Legacy West Park. The latter borders Pittman Wash has 2 baseball diamonds, and a lit basketball court, a covered play structure, and two tennis courts. Mountain View Park also has similar features, only is smaller and has 1 baseball diamond instead of two.
